Testimonials From Our Patients

I was experiencing pain and numbness in my left arm and neck. After years of poor posture practices, the staff at Recovery Physical Therapy set me straight!
I commute into Penn Station everyday so it was important that I find something nearby. Recovery’s Fashion Avenue location is super convenient and their hours favor a commuter who still needs to be in the office on time.
Kelly Hogan – my therapist, took the time to explain the mechanics behind my therapy. This allowed me to consciously change my habits to maximize the benefit of her instruction. My pain decreased by 75% in a week and I was symptom free in about 5 weeks.
I have nothing but praise for the staff at RPT

- Thomas G, Patient at RPT Fashion District
Dear John,
Wanted to take the time to thank you for all your help. You are such a wonderful physical therapist, and when I was really in a lot of pain you helped bring me to a much better place. It made a world of difference and I don’t think I can ever thank you enough for all your humor, kindness and knowledge!!!  (I’ve been keeping up with my exercises!)
Have to say by the time I reached you and actually every one on the amazing team at Recovery Physical Therapy Group, I was really worried that I would never get better again.  The other places had not helped me at all, and I felt defeated and completely discouraged.  But the whole atmosphere at RPT is unique, and although I hope to never return…. (I’ve been keeping up with my exercises!)  I know that no matter what problem I would ever have, you all could solve it!!
Please also thank Amie and Shannon. Amie runs such a great facility and Shannon was always right there working so hard alongside you all.
Can’t thank you enough for all your help — for having such a well-run place – where people can heal.

I’ve been seeing Christine Meizoso, the director of PT at this location, on and off for a year. She is truly amazing, and I’ve seen many PTs. I went to Christine with a nagging hip/back pain that never seemed to go away. I’m a runner, so I was getting extremely frustrated with not being able to run. I had seen so many specialists that I didn’t expect her to fix me . . . but she did! She gave me a targeted treatment plan with strength-training moves that WORKED (hallelujah!). She told me exactly when I could expect to see improvement (and was right about it, too). She really cares about her patients; I would recommend her to anyone. In fact, I’ve referred at least 10 people to her, and everyone has raved about her. I love Christine at Recovery Physical Therapy

I have been a client at your RPT Larchmont location for over 5 months (3 times a week) as I tore my Anterior Cruciate Ligament last October. Although, I have not received a survey/ questionnaire yet I wanted to send you my feedback. I however do not usually do this but I believe I should in this case.  I just wanted to let you know that after having played sports all my life and assisted to different physical therapy locations, this is by far the best I have ever been. I have been assisted by Erik who is extremely reliable, respectful, hard working professional yet approachable and all the customers have really high stem for his work. In my personal case, I have felt really good progress on my rehab – every day according to what was needed – and I will absolutely recommend RPT and Erik’s work in particular to all my colleagues, neighbors and friends. Congratulations for having such a professional team and good service!

Having been diagnosed with Patella tendonitis, I was sent to the Flatiron facility of Recovery Physical Therapy.  Never having had physical therapy before, I had no idea what to expect. From the warm reception I received upon entering RPT, to scheduling, and filling insurance forms, everything was professionally executed and easily done. It must also be mentioned that this facility is spacious, light, and pristine.  John McLaughlin, Director and my therapist, designed a recovery plan for me with expertise, great care, and support.  In addition to my sessions at the facility, to help me rebuild my knee’s strength and flexibility at home, I was sent emails with specific exercises.
I strongly recommend RPT and John McLaughlin —- and if I ever need PT again, I will unequivocally return to Recovery Physical Therapy.
- Amy S, Patient at RPT Flatiron District

Most people would agree that physical therapy is no fun.  It’s a lot of work and often exhausting. So it’s essential to have therapists and staffers that are smart, nice, and well-versed in their craft to help get through the healing process.  From director Nicole to receptionist Judy, everyone at Recovery Physical Therapy — conveniently located in midtown — is a pleasure to deal with. They provide a relaxed atmosphere while producing top-notch results, nevermind patiently answering any and all of your questions.
A friend recommended that I check out the facility after I told her of my painful knee injury.  Over the next few months, I received extensive therapy sessions which — coupled with detailed exercises that I was taught to do at home — made for a full recovery.  When an unrelated back problem flared up two years later, I knew exactly where to go.  And once again, Nicole and her staff have shown why Recovery Physical Therapy is superior to its competitors.  The staff’s level of expertise isn’t up for debate, but their consistent sense of compassion makes one realize that they have a stake in your healing. You can’t put a price on that, which is why I enthusiastically give Nicole and her crew the highest rating.

- Larry E, Patient at RPT Rockefeller Center

I found RPT following knee surgery and was very satisfied with the care they provided.  The physical therapists are all very knowledgeable (and stay that way through ongoing education and training) and caring, and have a terrific “bedside manner” as well.  My therapist knew exactly when to push me and when to ease up during our sessions.  I was provided ample information and training on home exercises so that I could continue the good work she did onsite.  I usually had no problem getting the appointment times I desired and found the email reminders very helpful.  I would definitely recommend this facility (and have!) to anyone seeking quality physical therapy.  They literally helped get me back on my feet!

- K W, Patient at RPT Grand Central

I limped in to RPT in May.  I skipped out when my treatment was completed!!  I cannot recommend this center highly enough.  I have been cared for by all of the physical therapists and they are all great without exception.  Thank you Amie, John, Shannon and Jessica!

- Jan C, Patient at RPT Wall St

I went to Recovery Physical Therapy for a bad back  and they were very helpful. Rob, my therapist, was gentle but constantly reiterated the importance of self care to build and maintain muscle strength and minimize stress on my back.  The premises were pristine, the scheduling and handling of insurance matters were first rate.  I highly, highly recommend RPT, at least the Flatiron facility (I didn’t go to any others).  Rob is fantastic but all of the therapists seemed highly competent and compassionate so I don’t think you can go wrong there.

- Liz S, Patient at RPT Flatiron District
I needed PT after I had surgery for a broken leg, and I came to Recovery PT based on Yelp reviews. I had a fantastic experience there. The people at the front desk are very friendly and remembered me after my first visit. My therapist, John, was kind, knowledgeable and thorough. Whenever any new ache or pain arose he knew exactly why it happened and helped me calm down about it. I actually enjoyed going to PT every week. Like other reviewers have noted, the facilities are quite small, but I never felt that I was at all limited. The hours are decent and it was pretty easy to schedule an appointment. I’ve only been to one other PT place before this one, but the therapy I had at Recovery PT was much higher quality. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. Thanks John!!!
- Alaina B, Patient at RPT Flatiron District

Had my last PT session at 30 Wall Street today. What a great team, not to say I want to keep going for PT but I will miss them! Amie, Jessica, John, Alberto, Elizabeth and Katherine are the best! They are all professional, friendly and make you feel very comfortable!

- Blanche R, Patient at RPT Wall St

I highly recommend Recovery Physical Therapy.  A couple of years ago my surgeon suggested I go to “his” Physical Therapist – Russell Hartophilis and I have been going to him and his staff ever since.   Russell is extremely knowledgeable and really cares about his patients.  His upbeat attitude always puts his patients at ease and in a good mood.  His staff is great – Nicole, Kim and Kelly are extremely attentive, thorough, professional and very experienced.  I cannot thank them enough.  2 years ago I was supposed to have foot surgery.  Russell worked on my foot and my pain was gone, I didn’t need the surgery.I have gone to RPT for my back, my feet and my knees.   I am always amazed that when I walk in I am in so much pain but after a few sessions – I’m back to new again.  To anyone who has been in pain, you know what it is like that when you find someone who heals you  – you want to tell everyone you know.  I would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of a physical therapist for your aches and pains.

- Stacy S, Patient at RPT Fashion District

I don’t have one negative comment to make about the staff of Recovery PT - right from Liz at the front desk, to the therapists in the back, John,Amie and Jessica. Not only did they do a fantastic job on my shoulder after rotator cuff surgery in Oct 2010, they made me feel very comfortable being there. They are extremely intent on helping you get better. I have just had surgery on my other shoulder for a torn bicep and labrum and am looking forward to rehab. I would highly recommend Recovery Physical Therapy to anyone, I would never use anyone else! Also let me not forget Alberto, he never lets me cheat on my exercises!

- Joe S, Patient at RPT Wall St

I have had chronic shoulder issues since high school sports. My previous physical therapy experiences were of minimal help. Now that I am middle aged and looking at surgery, I heard about Recovery PT from colleagues and decided to give it one more chance. Following an 8 week program, not only was my chronically subluxating right should  less painful but I have minimal complaints with general use. Nicole and Kim provided extensive manual therapy and outlined a thorough home and gym program. I had nothing short of a positive experience!  Thank you!

- Andrew H, Patient at RPT Rockefeller Center

I had the opportunity to receive therapy with Jessica, John and Amy after minor knee arthroscopy. Jessica was my primary therapist, John and Amy filled in when my schedule didn’t coordinate with Jessica’s. Everybody in this office is very nice and professional. Each therapist has their own personality and way of working you – I think John will push you harder, Jessica is midway between tough and nice and Amy seemed the least forceful although I’m sure that if she has to make you bend that painful extremity, she will – so you should try and take the opportunity to work with each and see which one works best for you. I would recommend all of them. I especially appreciate their willingness to answer “why” questions. They are generally on time and appreciate when you are *right* on time, not early and not late. Appointments seem to be booked with slight overlap so if you make that overlap bigger it makes it harder to give everyone the attention they should. They seem to do their best to give everyone individual treatment.I never had any problems with payments/insurance and they did kept up with submitting requests to my insurance company to keep me covered. Unfortunately the insurance company decided I was all better so no more p/t for me, but I still recommend Recovery PT.

- Rachel W, Patient at RPT Wall Street

I was referred to Recovery Physical Therapy by a physician after having a lot of knee pain and problems. While undergoing additional tests by the doctor (MRI), he recommended that I start with physical therapy. The entire experience of physical therapy at Recovery at Rockefeller Center has been nothing short of amazing. I discovered that I had a meniscus tear in my left knee and opted for the surgery. Recovery was my physical therapy before and after. In fact, my therapist spent the time explaining the procedure and outcomes. The treatment I received after the surgery made a quick recovery possible, so much so that even the doctor was impressed with the progress.
From the very first moment when you schedule an appointment, you start to realize how much the entire staff cares about you and your recovery. After the appointment is scheduled, their automated system sends your reminder text messages and E-mail messages (opt-in) which makes it incredibly easy to not forget the appointment. The hours are extremely flexible too. Some days I come in during my lunch break, other days after work, and yet others earlier in the morning. So far I have not had an issue finding a time that works well for me.
The first appointment is one of the most important because it sets the tone for the treatment. One of the biggest differences that I’ve noticed with Recovery PT vs. other physical therapy offices is the high level of energy and enthusiasm to making a complete recovery. Unlike other physical therapy places that I have been too in the past, I noticed a burst of optimism with every session. I worked with Suzanne and from the first visit, she kept saying “don’t worry, we’ll get you back running soon,” or “we’ll work to get rid of that pain and get things back to normal.” This is a common theme of the treatment.
It sounds a bit cheesy, but having this level of enthusiasm, positive energy, and confidence makes the therapy and recovery that much better. Not all exercises are easy, but with Recovery, you notice things like the therapists trying to find a workout that work and you enjoy. Usually we try new workouts and feel progress as a result without getting bored. For my home exercises, my therapists always give me things that I can easily do vs. just regular exercises.
The space is a bit small, but all of the therapists that I’ve worked with (schedule-wise sometimes I saw one of them), make the most of the session and I can highly recommend Suzanne, Nicole, and Kim from first-hand experience. Your session will be some work (muscles might burn), but it will also be fun and interactive, custom-tailored for your specific condition.
Because of the attention to patients, creativity, and positivity all in one package, I highly recommend the therapists and physical therapy at Recovery PT in Rockefeller Center. Even though sometimes I used to have my doubts about the effectiveness of physical therapy, I am say that Recovery PT therapists quickly squelched that opinion and I am almost fully recovered in just a few weeks. And a special thanks to Suzanne for helping to make this recovery smooth. I understand why it is called Recovery Physical Therapy.

It seems weird to look at an injury as a blessing, but after 3 months of treatment with John and Shannon at Recovery PT Wall Street,  I have to consider my lower back injury to have been a blessing in disguise. Overweight and inactive, I put off going to PT until my pain was unmanageable. I was afraid that I would be judged or blamed for letting my body get so unfit. On the contrary, after a comprehensive assessment John told me he didn’t care how much I weighed as long as I was strong enough to carry it! John and Shannon both taught me exercises to do at home and I have to say both of them were tough but fair with me–rightly pointing out that I would feel better faster if I did the prescribed exercises not just when I was at PT. They checked in with me at the beginning of each appointment to make sure that they knew what was going on with my pain. I kept getting stronger, started going to the gym and began to feel much more in control of my own health. John and Shannon were concerned, instructive, encouraging and supportive. I always felt like they wanted me to feel better and would do whatever they could to help me achieve that. It is almost a year since I first walked into Recovery PT and while my back condition is not “healed” and never will be–it is now within my power and ability to manage it myself through stretching, exercise and moderate life changes. So thanks!

Having heard from my trainer that the Millburn office of Recovery Physical Therapy, and Joel Hirschhorn in particular, would provide me with the care and support I needed last spring when the orthopedist prescribed a PT regimen for my ailing shoulder, I signed up, expecting an experience similar to one I previously had elsewhere.  Not even close.
What I found in Joel is a skilled and knowledgable professional who created a course of therapy that included working with me one-on-one for a significant portion of each session, developing a series of self-directed exercises that strengthened my shoulder, and encouraging me – miraculously succeeding – to maintain a PT routine at home.  Most remarkable in this isn’t only Joel’s expertise and understanding, but also his ability to explain to me what my shoulder problem was and how it would be rehabilitated.  Added to that is his outstanding ability to make each Recovery patient believe that he or she is the only patient in the room at any given time. How does anyone do that? I watched Joel work with very young children, treating them with understanding and the respect many people forget is necessary with kids who aren’t sure why they hurt.  I was impressed as he coaxed a woman in her 80s to do one more set of exercises – to the surprise of her middle-aged daughter and the delight of the patient herself.  And I congratulated Joel for what is clearly Recovery’s outstanding reputation with the high school athletes who need and benefit from its expertise.
Some months after my own experience at Recovery, my husband had knee surgery.  He spent the next several weeks working with Joel, and had the same kind of positive experience I had.
As a final comment, it’s important for me to acknowledge Diane, the administrative staff person at the Millburn Recovery office.  Her own grace and ease with so many patient personalities is certainly worth mentioning, she’s effective and efficient in keeping a busy office running smoothly, and her ability to navigate the tangle of insurance claim regulations is nothing short of astounding.

Recovery Physical Therapy of Millburn is awesome!   Over the past four years they have treated me, as well as my son and daughter.

Four years ago I ended up in the ER with severe back spasms.   For the first week I was on the floor in my room unable to move-  on muscle relaxants and pain medication.  When I first met Joel, 2 weeks later, it was painful to do the simplest tasks: walking, bending, lifting light loads, and getting into my car and driving.   As a lacrosse coach I couldn’t imagine how I would be ready for the spring season, which was less than 3 months away.  With Joel’s help, I was able to coach but I still had limitations.    It took about a year of treatment, core strengthening exercises and rethinking the way I was moving to be 100% back.   They explained what was going on with my back, each step of treatment and my exercise regimen very clearly.  Joel and Mike were both knowledgeable, patient, kind, friendly  and always made me laugh. They made a difficult situation for me so much easier.   Now I seldom have any discomfort and yes I continue to do my exercises at least twice a week.

I didn’t hesitate to call them when I needed a physical therapist for my children!  I knew they would be comfortable with Joel and Mike and would receive the best care!    My daughter was first treated at RPT for a neck spasm.  A year later she suffered a concussion. It took 3 months for her to be ready for PT to be cleared for athletics and she insisted on seeing Joel and Mike!

It was really bad luck the day I was playing tennis and tore my ACL.  Having torn my other ACL 20 years prior, I knew the long road ahead — therapy, surgery, more therapy, etc.  My luck changed when my surgeon referred me to Joel Hirshhorn at Recovery Physical Therapy.  I had been to many physical therapists for various knee, shoulder, and wrist related sports injuries, and Joel was just different.
Joel was incredibly knowledgeable.  He has many years of experience and keeps abreast of the latest therapy approaches and outcomes.  He is kind and genuinely interested in the success of his patients.  He is personable and likeable — truly a gem.
I am happy to report that I have completely resumed playing recreational tennis and skiing without incident … so far!  Thank you for helping me be stronger and more aware of how I can safely partake in a variety of sports.
With thanks and appreciation, Karen.

- Karen H, Patient at RPT Millburn

Joel, Mike and Diane are a great team.  My physical therapy worked very well for my spinal stenosis.  I listened and followed instructions and always felt better and had more energy when I left RPT.  Joel and   Mike showed me new methods and the best ways to move correctly, and explained what I was doing wrong in order to avoid aggravating my situation.

I recommended my husband to Recovery Physical Therapy when he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.  He was unable to move his arms and shoulders and had difficulty walking.  After doing PT with Joel and Mike, he is now able to raise his arms above his head and is back to playing tennis.  He continues to do the exercises daily that Joel had given him.    Recovery Physical Therapy has put him back on his feet.  We are very grateful! Thank you Joel, Mike, Diane and everyone at Recovery Physical Therapy.

I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know how much your NY Wall Street office has meant to me. I first met Amie Ashley in 2008 after numerous surgeries to fix a shattered femur.I can’t remember for how long but I am certain it was 9 months. She guided me not only physically but at times emotionally . She is such a positive influence on those around her  and just a genuinely great person to be around. Over the past year the hip on that leg died and finally had to be replaced… not an ordinary hip replacement. The doctors spent 5 hours re-doing the existing hardware and putting in a longer than normal “neck” of the fake hip. At first I did not no how long I would be out (some said 6 weeks) . Living in Northern NewJersey I had the option of going to Kessler in West Orange. I was there the first go around for a year before I met Amie. Fortunately after two weeks I was able to get back to work  and thus was able to skip the Kessler part… I am so very happy to be working with both her and her staff. I know it is going to be a long road but I can’t think of a better place to be. I hope you don’t mind my saying but RPT is very lucky to have such a great person as Amie on it’s team.
Thanks and all the best for RPT’s continued success!

- Mike S, Patient at RPT Wall Street

In 2008, following a knee injury from jogging and a diagnosis of osteoarthritis, I was referred to Joel Hirschhorn of Recovery Physical Therapy.  From the start, I was impressed with his professionalism; his passion that clients should understand the physiology behind the treatments and exercises that we were doing; and his great, great  care.  Many leg lifts and stretches later, my knee was better, and he had made a quiet suggestion that I might take up cycling.  (I’ve seen patients of all ages working with Joel, but it may help with perspective for you to know that I was 69 at the time.)

Since then, Joel’s care has made it possible for me to do a dozen multisport events (triathlons and aquabikes) over the last four years.

Along the way, he has done rehabilitation after arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus, and this year after rotator cuff surgery.  Each time, Joel was clearly my first choice for rehabilitation, and, again both times, I experienced him as knowledgeable, caring, pacing the recovery carefully, and bringing me back to full strength.  He is not only capable and caring, but also  a delightful therapist, distracting me during the rehab with his conversation.

This year, hoping to participate on Team USA in my very first world age-group triathlon,  I wouldn’t have thought it was possible for Joel to bring back my shoulder in just five months, but he prepared me so that I could swim a half-mile and compete in an age-group world triathlon, a once-in-a-lifetime dream.

I would recommend Joel without reservation to anyone seeking first-class physical therapy, and am deeply grateful to have him as my physical therapist.

- Fairbairn P, Patient at RPT Millburn

Four years ago I was referred to Recovery Physical Therapy by my podiatrist for treatment of an ankle injury.  Why Millburn? I asked –a round tip of 16 miles 2 or 3 times a week  ??  Her answer was – it’s the best  – the PT is excellent and that’s what I want for yor ankle.

Being a health professional myself, I am very picky about my health care.  I wanted my treatment to be professional,  personal  and caring.  I did not want to be known as the patient in the first bed- or the one with the ankle.  I wanted to be me, a patient in pain, having difficulty in walking and a little scared.
And then I met the  therapist who would be treating me.  Are there words???? Professional?  YES!!!! and proud of his profession.  Caring. most certainly.  I’ve had the opportunity to watch Joel treat very young children and that touch and understanding was there also.  Regardless of age, gender, or diability Joel is the heart of the practice.  He certainly makes  us work and yes, sometimes he hurts us but most importantly he cares and he gets to know us as people and we begin to know him as a person.  Because of the mutual feeling of respect for one another we work harder and better.
Because of repeated injuries to the same ankle I have had to return a few time for more PT and I.m still impressed.  Would I return again?  Most certainly!!!!!

I would like to take the time to inform you of the great post-op treatment I received at 902 Broadway. I had a left knee revision on 11/8 and when I entered your facility the knee had a 90 degree flex. When I completed treatment the knee had a 130 degree flex. I attribute this to my therapist “John McLaughlin”. His professionalism, care and personal attention to my rehab led to an early return to a normal activities. Please give relay thank you to John.
- Stuart Y, Patient at RPT Flatiron

John McLaughlin at the Flat Iron location is THE physical therapist to go to in New York. I often went to 7:30am appointments before work and it was an awesome way to start the day. (I actually didn’t mind getting up earlier!) John always took the time to thoroughly explain everything and answered every single one of my many questions in detail. I’ve been treated by John for 3 different injuries, all of which are back to normal and under control. I’m a yoga instructor, so John has taught me how to implement all that I’ve learned in PT  into my own yoga practice and teaching, helping me to manage chronic injuries and prevent injuries in the future. John made me feel very comfortable and always made me laugh in the morning.

Another great asset to the Flat Iron location is the wonderful front desk staff, Leslie and Denise. These ladies always cared about how I was doing and remembered everything! They were always happy to see me, and even gave me candy when they had it! (which they knew I loved)
I love John & the gang at Recovery PT Flatiron and would never want to go anywhere else!
- Teresa B, Patient at RPT Flatiron

RPT is THE place to go for the best care in physical therapy. I first went to Recovery Physical Therapy in 2005 after a total knee replacement. Joel and the PT’s worked diligently to get me back to a very active life, chasing after my then, two-year-old son. After this, whether I’ve had back and neck problems, or tennis elbow, Joel and his team have been efficient and extremely professional. They are great people who genuinely care about their patients.

Thank you Joel and all of the group at Recovery Physical Therapy in Millburn!

- Krista W, Patient at RPT Millburn

Thank you for all your help with my physical therapy for my shoulders and knee. Your many years of experience and caring demeanor definitely helped make my physical therapy with you successful and I would recommend you to family and friends who need physical therapy.

- Cliff B, Patient at RPT Millburn

I have been a client of Recovery Physical Therapy in Millburn 3 times over the past few years.  Mike and Joel helped me with my knee, shoulder and neck.  In all instances I was treated with respect, compassion, skill and humor.  Recovery PT is a warm environment, staffed by individuals who are extremely good at what they do.  I am always impressed by their knowledge of the body and their expertise in getting mine, and those of others of various ages, back to good working order.

I feel very fortunate to have found Joel and Mike, and recommend them to anyone who asks.  They motivated me to work hard, and were always supportive and kind.  They are not only wonderful therapists, they are really nice guys.

- Pat P, Patient at RPT Millburn

“I was referred to Recovery PT by my orthopedic doctor who surgically repaired my torn right ACL. It was the best referral ever!

I am 50 and love playing sports and being active. I wasn’t ready to “hand them up” after my injury. And although I knew I needed the physical therapy and was committed to putting in the work, I honestly harbored a healthy skeptism about PT. Would they know what they were doing? Would they know when to push me hard without hurting me? Would they really know when I was ready to start playing sports again, particularly soccer, which is how I tore my ACL in the first place? The answers were  all emphatically YES!

Joel Hirschhorn was my PT. He clearly knew what he was doing. He asked all the questions up front to assess where I was when we started. He put me through all the preliminary tests to establish a benchmark. He regularly communicated what we were going to do and why without my need to solicit the information. He patiently answered all my questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. He knew my goals and pushed me perfectly and appropriately. But in addition to his professional skills and expertise, his interpersonal skills made me feel like we were friends. He took a real interest, remembering details of our previous conversations and asking about them and me at our next sessions.

Finally, and most importantly, the results speak for themselves. I have returned to playing soccer and feel great. My rehabilitated knee feels stronger than my other one and, although Joel might not agree, I feel confident and strong enough to play without my brace.

I enthusiastically endorse Recovery PT, Joel Hirshhorn and the whole staff there.

- Ralph C, Patient at RPT Millburn

I came to Recovery Physical Therapy after major reconstructive foot surgery.  Joel Hirschhorn was terrific!  He was patient and kind.  He worked with me one-on-one in manipulating my foot and helping me, gradually, through intensive exercise (both at home and in his office), learn to walk and become active once again.

I have been to many other physical therapists over the years but have not experienced the kind of personal care and attention that I received from Joel. Joel was certainly focused on rehabilitating my foot, but also was concerned about me as a person.  He helped keep me encouraged and positive through many long months, even when I became frustrated, and was always accessible to address my questions or concerns.

Today, nearly two years after my surgery, I am thankful to Joel for all that he has done to help me get back to playing tennis several times a week and leading a normal, active life.

Upon receiving a diagnosis for a severe case of ‘frozen shoulder’, my orthopedic, a top New Jersey surgeon, felt that with the right hands-on therapists I could avoid a painful operation and potentially long recovery.  As an insulin dependent diabetic, I had a lot riding on the success of my physical therapy.  Joel, Mike and the staff at RTP Millburn are friendly, professional, sensitive and dedicated to the patient’s case first and foremost.  Always energetic and happy to see you, Joel and Mike share the same affable and caring philosophy. Work hard.  Measure progress.  Be proactive with the therapy.  Seeing the effect on the patients around me, both young children and the more experienced citizen, I found my compass.  I dedicated myself to getting better. And that pushed me as far as I could go and rescued my shoulder.   I cannot thank the guys enough other than to tell them my shoulder is as it was before the accident, and I am living pain free.  The Gold Seal of approval.

I wanted to take a minute to tell you what a fabulous experience Taylor and  I had working with you and all of the staff over at Recovery Physical Therapy.  First I need to say how helpful Diane was in getting us appointments and being  flexible with my daughters after school schedule. She was a delight! And then  there was Veronica who seriously was not only Taylor’s therapist, but became a  friend to us as well. She made the pain and experience that much easier for  Taylor. Each week she would key in on what was bothering Taylor still with her  shoulder injury and explain exactly what is was she was doing and why..and each  week she sent us home with home exercises to keep her going.  Each week we  came back and Taylor was getting stronger and better. It’s a process, but  Veronica was very patient and caring in helping Taylor.  Veronica was  eager to make sure she got better and she did.(all with a smile and she was fun  to be around)  Now all I have to do is keep on top of Taylor to  continue with her home exercises. Lastly, Joel when you worked on Taylor she  knew she was in good hands as well and between you and Veronica you  both nursed Taylor back. So I can’t say thank you enough for helping Taylor  and in addition for making it a pleasurable experience to come to Recovery  Therapy each week. Taylor and I would both would highly recommend  you.

Recovery PT’s Joel Hirschhorn was the primary reason our son recovered so quickly and thoroughly from knee surgery undergone in the middle of high school. A competitive athlete, now in college, Matthew couldn’t have done it without the expertise, guidance, and commitment of Recovery PT.  Initially and throughout, communication with the surgeon created a comprehensive plan to promote a perfect recovery.  During the entire process, it was Joel’s professionalism and reassurance that carried our son through the months of recovery.  He actively looked forward to his Recovery PT appointments due to Joel’s friendly and encouraging demeanor.

The process was so successful that when I had to undergo reconstructive foot surgery one year later, I knew without hesitation that I would be coming to Joel Hirschhorn at Recovery PT for my own post surgical physical therapy.  As with our son’s experience, my recovery was quick and thorough, and I am back to running, skiing, biking, and yoga–pain-free.

I recommend the team at Recovery PT without reservation.  The staff is professional, friendly, and reassuring.  Appointments were always easy to obtain when it was convenient for us and we never had to wait when we arrived at the office.  And, most importantly, we were ushered through our rehabilitation with confidence and genuine care.

Joel ushered both Matthew and me through our post surgical period with kindness and flawless expertise. Matthew is playing club lacrosse in college and is on the club ski team – the knee and ankle are doing just fine.  I’m back to doing everything on a foot that is feeling almost perfect. Thank you for everything.

I am writing to let you know that I was very pleased with your care of my daughter Alison Bader.  She is doing great and is back to playing tennis after her recent shoulder injury.  You did a great job and I want to thank you.   You were always very concerned about her progress and willing to answer any question.  I felt you really cared about her getting better.   The best endorsement I can give you is that I came to see you with my 10 year old daughter’s injury.  You did such  a great job on helping me recover from my torn ACL several years ago, that I wanted you to personally treat my daughter.  I want you to know that I think you are an excellent at what you do and I would not go elsewhere for treatment for myself or my family.

I have been a patient at RPT (51st & Lexington) for the past year for rehabilitation after three orthopedic surgeries (to correct a labral tear in my shoulder & hallux rigidus conditions in both feet).  The entire team of physical therapists and clerical staff at RPT have been amazing – extremely competent, friendly & efficient.

I have been primarily under the expert care of Christine Meizoso.  Christine is a true professional. She knows her field thoroughly, communicates clearly to explain the injury
involved and how to treat it, and is always cheerful, encouraging and supportive. Recovering from an injury can be emotionally stressful and draining, as well as physically painful. Christine guides her patient through both the physical and “blue funk” aspects of rehabilitation.  I completely trust her with my rehab and, because of her positive, upbeat attitude and compassionate approach, I actually enjoy my PT sessions – despite the pain which is part of the process!

I am confident that I’m ”in good hands” working with the physical therapists at RPT on my path of healing toward recovery.  I highly recommend Christine and her team to anyone who has a musculoskeletal injury which requires physical therapy attention.

Thank you for the outstanding care that was provided to me by John Wilbert and the entire staff at 30 Wall Street. I have been to three other PT facilities in the past few years. John and his team are clearly the best. He exceeded my expectations and I could not have been happier with the treatment.

Among the factors that stand out are his knowledge and expertise, and ability to explain complicated medical information in a way that a layperson can easily understand, as my surgery and recovery turned out to be much more complicated than anticipated. John always maintained a positive attitude, was very patient, and was always willing to listen and discuss treatment progress and options. He always was full of encouragement, even at very difficult and painful periods in the process. The rest of the staff has similar characteristics and the general atmosphere in the office is very positive. I can honestly say that I actually looked forward to my visits.

John is clearly a leader in his field and should be commended for his performance.

After tearing my ACL I was referred here and have worked with everyone: Amie, John, Jessica, and Alberto. EVERYONE is friendly, helpful, knows their stuff and more importantly effective!

Love, love, love Recovery Physical Therapy. The space is beautiful and spacious (my Manhattan standards), and the therapists are VERY knowledgeable and friendly. I saw Rob and Jill after having a lateral release surgery on my knee, and they really helped me get back in the game. I can know power walk throughout the streets of Manhattan in my heels, and hip check slow tourists, just like I used to before my surgery. Okay, okay…but they really did help me get back into shape. I highly recommend anyone at this Recovery PT location!
