Plyometric Exercises
Plyometric exercises, which involve hops and bounding for the lower extremities, and medicine balls and other weighted equipment for the upper extremities, place significant stress on the musculoskeletal system, therefore, they are progressively incorporated in the later stages of recovery from injury.
Programs like core stabilization training (the core is defined as the lumbo-pelvic-hip region) are used at RPT to improve postural control, create muscle balance around the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex, and improve neuromuscular efficiency throughout the entire body. Core stabilization is essential to the treatment of low back dysfunction, and will be clinically referred to as dynamic lumbar stabilization (DLS; a functional approach to low back pain), but is also incorporated into our “whole-body” approach when treating upper and lower extremity injuries; enabling the extremities to move, balance and function optimally.
